My brother got a blood test,results said he had high triglyceride levels (200-499 mg/dL).He has a pain on his back.Explanation please? Is this something to be alarmed about? My brother does not drink alcohol or eat fatty foods. How can this be alleviated?

I have been trying to diet to lose weight to lower my cholesterol, one of my last vices is diet coke, which obviously has caffeine in it. Is there any evidence that Diet Coke will increase my cholesterol levels?
