My Triglyceride Level Is Only 58. However My Total Cholesterol Is 235. Ldl 145 Hdl 78. Whats With That?

I’m 48. Ieat a lot of fruits and veggies, no red meat, fat free milk, next to no processed foods. I have slowed down on exercise and have a stressful job. Could that be a culprit? I also weigh 145 and am 5 ft 7.

In the absence of risk factors like diabetes, etc, those numbers aren’t bad. Genetics may be a factor.

Your triglicerides have nothing to do with cholesterol. That is a different fat. Your total cholesterol is high. They like it under 200. The ratio is the real issue. If you exercise, eat low fat foods and keep your cholesterol down by using extra virgin olive oil, eating nuts, using margarines that do not have the artery clogging transfats in them and snacking on fruits, veggies and sut out fatty meats you will be doing a good thing. exercise is the best thing you can do besides diet. Then if it is up you will know that you have a tendency in your family and it’s genetic. Most people don’t realize hopw much this is an issue. We have a lot of heredity that effects our health. that means extra hard working on the issues and maybe taking a lowering cholesterol drug. The niacin that is non flush would be my first choice. Then under a Dr’s care go to something stronger if all of the above does not work. You can’t take the niacin with a statin drug. Good luck. Miss Mary
