3 Responses to “What Diet Aids Can I Take While Taking Beta Blockers For My Heart Condition?”
icv76 – You should speak to your doctor about this, but I am glad you are asking the question at least. I do agree with ChornayaKiska and mdel that improving your diet and exercise regimen should be the FIRST steps towards achieving a healthy weight. However, some people do require additional help, and this is best done under the supervision of a physician. There are some diet aids that you can take, but they are largely going to be the ones available by prescription only. The over-the-counter diet aids that you see advertised are virtually all stimulants that help you to “burn calories”. Many advertise that they are ephedra-free, but use herbal supplements that are known to be stimulants. They can cause your heart rate and blood pressure to increase to varying degrees. Unfortunately, this goes directly against what beta-blockers are meant to accomplish. They block some of the effects of adrenaline to keep your blood pressure and heart rate under control. Taking these supplements while you are on beta-blockers is like stepping on the gas and the brakes at the same time. There are a few prescription diet aids that you can ask your doctor about. They are not stimulants and will not work against the beta blocker, but can either help to reduce your appetite (Meridia) or reduce your GI absorption of dietary fat (Xenical). Another promising drug that should be available in the US soon is rimonabant. I can’t say if any of these may be appropriate for you, but your doctor should be able to make some recommendations.
none, do it the right way, the healthy way. u r obviously already messing up your liver with the heart meds, but those are necessary, so why u wanna mess it up more, then u’ll die from liver failure with a healthy heart silly!
check out the 1st link for some herbal supplements that will not interfere with anything as it is just a collection of several plant roots, this is help you lose weight initially by cleansing your body of various toxins. and then u need to work to get the rest off.
I recommend getting the Candida Cleanse 1st (at any health food store)
also try drinking 2-3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegal before each meal and watch the pounds come off.
and then just exercise, everyone can afford to walk, or even jog for 20 minutes a day, its not a lot, or just dance in your livingroom, or do yoga. start out slow so as not to heart your heart and then work your way up.
the natural way is always better for your body and more effective in terms of long-term effects.
I have a friend who is 5′2 and used to weigh 260 lbs, after i was done with her she weight 190 lbs after 6 months, and nothing drastic was done.
also eliminate sugar from your diet entirely, so no; sugar, candy, white bread, white rice, cookies, ice cream, SODA, etc, etc.
and as much as u can try to eat grains, fruits and veggies.
good luck and take care of your body, its the only one u’ve got!
